Equipment:
Nikon digital camera bodies and prime lenses mostly. A couple of other bits and pieces too for good measure, but the primes are my workhorses. In addition to the digital cameras, I also have a load of old 35mm film cameras which take beautiful pictures, as well as a medium format Rolleicord which smells of pipe tobacco.
Lighting:
Nikon Speedlights or Bowens heads depending on the situation. The Speedlights give you the freedom to shoot anywhere, if you want a portrait taken at the top of Kilimanjaro , so be it, I’m your man. The Bowens kit gives precise control in a studio environment. Daylight is beautiful too, it has been around a long time and is a proven technology.
Where:
For corporate style headshots, I’m very mobile so I travel to wherever you are within reason. All I need is a quiet space with a suitable background. For full length or portfolio work, I have a space in Moxie Studios just off Baggot Street/Lad Lane, an appointment is essential. For directions, click here . For family portraits, I prefer to shoot in the family home especially when kids are involved, because they’re often most comfortable there.
Make-Up:
I have a longstanding relationship with the LA Make-Up Academy and know a large number of graduate Make-Up Artists. The MUAs all have online portfolios or Facebook presences and their work can be assessed easily.
